What is Tolerate?

The art project Tolerate is an attempt to examine what tolerance means to us as individuals, from a psychological perspective. I would describe tolerance, in this case, as being about how we behave, as individuals, when we dislike other people or groups. If we allow others space to express themselves freely or if we try to prevent them from doing so.

With this application you can measure if you are as tolerant, or intolerant, as you want yourself and/or society to be.

The visitor to this website should take notice that this is not in any way a scientific test. It was made to encourage discussions about and reflection over the role of tolerance in our lives. It was created by the artist Jon Brunberg on commission from The Living History Forum for the exhibition P.C.- an exhibition about intolerance.

HOW DO I MEASURE MY TOLERANCE?

You answer a series of questions about yourself, how you perceive your tolerance, and what your expectations are - on yourself and society. You will get a result, points, that can be used to analyse the composition of your tolerance and your ideals with a toolset.

DO I NEED TO REGISTER? DOES IT COST ANYTHING?

This is a free service. You won't have to sign up in order to take the test, but registration with a valid e-mail address is necessary if you want to follow your tolerance over time. Registration will enhance your experience in the long run.

Personal data, such as e-mail address, is not saved together with the answers you give in the questionnaire, unless you register. Read more about the registration process and privacy issues in our privacy policy. By using the service you are accepting our terms of use.

WHO IS BEHIND THIS PROJECT?

Tolerate is a web application created by the artist Jon Brunberg on commission from the Living History Forum in Stockholm for the exhibition  P.C.- an exhibition about intolerance.

It should be noted that the psychoanalyst Tomas Böhm and the psychologists Liria Ortiz and Fred Saboonchi, who participate in an anthology and a video installation that relates to this project, has not been involved in the work with this web-application. The test and the application was created solely by Jon Brunberg.
